Resolution for WPHOA Safety and Security Committee
The Board of Directors of the Walden Pond Home Owners Association (WPHOA) hereby establishes the Safety and Security Committee, to be composed of members of the association, for the following purposes:
To periodically assess and prioritize the safety needs of the common areas of Walden Pond that are owned by the WPHOA, and to advise the Board of Directors of these needs and possible actions in meeting them;
To monitor issues related to crime;
To initiate and oversee the Neighborhood Watch program, including ensuring a full slate of block captains;
To advise the Board of Directors on changes that may be helpful to keep the Walden Pond community safe from foreseeable accidents as well as criminal activity;
To work closely with the Durham Police Department and other agencies in order to report and prevent crime in the Walden Pond neighborhood.
It is the intention of the Board of Directors that the Safety and Security committee and its members shall be principally an advisory committee to the Board of Directors, reporting on suggestions for action by the elected Board. The elected Directors shall be responsible for contacting homeowners regarding actions to be taken; and to make final arrangements for the employment of any safety and security vendors providing services for WPHOA commons areas.
The Safety and Security Committee shall be headed by a chairperson appointed by the WPHOA Board of Directors. The chairperson shall be responsible for appointing sub-committees and sub-chairpersons within the committee, delegating tasks to these members, and scheduling meetings and other committee events. Committee membership shall be open to any WPHOA member or to his or her properly designated agent. At least one elected Director should serve on the committee as the Board's representative and liaison.
